There's a lot of discussion these days regarding transit oriented development as a means of reducing car usage. Apparently, Portland's long running TOD friendly policies haven't yielded the results expected. The article doesn't identify the reasons why public transit hasn't taken off more but I'd like to hear what the possible reasons are.
