Sustainability - Hmmm.....
You are correct that lots of people use the term very loosely. FoodTrust brands and markets high quality food products from "sustainable" systems. For us, sustainable systems are those that are environmentally sound, socially responsible, and economically viable. If any one of these three pillars is not in place then the system is not sustainable - it cannot succeed for very long.
Our farmers must meet many standards that satisfy sustainability requirements. Each year we raise the bar so that our farmers must continually strive toward complete sustainability.
It is a long road, but the journey will make life better for everyone.
