Vegetables high in beta-carotene have been shown to reduce the problem of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), proving the old wives tale of carrots helping you see in the dark - well, at any time really!
Scientists at the Age-Related Eye Disease Study Research Group reckon yellow or green vegetables high in lutein, zeaxanthin, beta-carotene, lycopene and vitamins C and E all help to stave off AMD.
