Ratatouille, The Slow Food Movie

Slow v. fast food - kind of a stretch. The movie is about friendship and accepting people - and rats - for who they are, not how they appear. At least that's the message all the kids seem to get out of it.

I think most 11 year olds can even pronounce the Movie title.

Yeah! My name sake... and a rat no less... a slow food rat who wants to be a cook! That's me alright... Someone sent me the poster when the movie came out, said Remy, he's your namesake... I had no idea what he was talking about... the poster was this rat assaulted with a dozen knives, and I thought he meant how everybody hates me these days because I want to shut down a nuke on the Hudson and all these green fashionistas are too "piffy" to get their feet wet... So after I help them for years grow their businesses green, carve huge markets for them where before there was none, comes time for me to ask favor back, and poof, everybody gone... it's YOUR issue they tell me, leave us alone... So when I got the poster for Ratatouille, I thought that's what the person who sent it to me meant... my paranoia, that's all... in fact, yeah... why would they pick Remy? Is that some sort of hidden message... I'm a rat, a "blue" rat... I don't belong in "their" kitchen... Not worthy... well, I haven't seen the movie yet... I will, I just don't get out to movies much anymore... I'll see it on DVD... I'm just happy there's a rat out there with my name on it... I don't feel so alone anymore... Now, if that rat was trying to shut down Indian Point, ah... well that would be another story... Maybe Remy can join Homer Simpsons during the Public Citizen day of protest outside theaters on Friday... The Unions use this BIG inflatable rat when they demonstrate in front of stores or shops that don't allow workers to Unionize... and who could blame them, when Unions support nuclear power, polluting industries, chemicals in farming, all the worse things... if the Unions in this country really represented the best interest of their workers, they'd be aligned with the environmentalists, not always fighting against them... Ah... what a little blue rat could do, given the proper set of memes and responsive chords... hmmm... did I just plant another seed of doubt in the global unconscious? Scary... Remy... a name that sends chills down the spine of so many people... because now it's more than just a Cognac or a pair of gloves... it's blue rat and a nutzoid... zoom zoom...
