Well, it's very nice that realtors are listing energy efficient homes as "green" but a green 15,000 square foot beachside "cottage" is only relatively green - it's not green thinking.
How about, remodel green? Instead of tearing down existing homes to build Faux Chateaux, why not Live Green, Live Smart and build The Sustainable House? at www.livegreenlivesmart.org we are re-building houses for sustainability: our first will use only about $2.50 per day in energy from the (wind powered) grid - and if our redundancies are complete, eventually no grid power - and the house looks conventional and lives conventionally, with the sort of accoutrements any slightly-above average suburban home would have - even the maintenance is normal!
