Motorists could soon be driving on a giant 10-lane superhighway through central England, under plans unveiled by the Highways Agency yesterday. Proposed changes to a 50-mile stretch of the M1 between Leicester and Chesterfield could give motorists an extra lane in each direction, and allow them to drive on the hard shoulder during busy times. Environmental campaigners described the plans as "dreadful", saying they would exacerbate global warming while doing nothing to ease congestion.

Nothing dreadful in there,
Nothing dreadful in there, it can reduce bulky road traffic and also reduce fuel consumption due to traffic..It can pacify the use of my Volkswagen Windshield Wiper Motor when it rains and generally minimize the consumption of electricity inside the car..Its all because of the eradication of heavy road traffic..
