US website Chegg.com provides a revolutionary online textbook rental service, offering over two million used books and 800,000 new book titles for students to rent, rather than buy. Now they have announced the launch of a new program - “Chegg for Trees†that will ensure that a tree is planted in a needy area every time a textbook is rented via the Textbookflix.com service. Chegg is delivering this program in partnership with the newly founded Eco-Libris, an organization that seeks to balance out the trees cut down for the production of books by planting trees in developing countries.

We need to stop the professors!
Many universities allow their tenured prosessors force their students to buy new books before taking their course. The professor wrote the book so he/she wants the revenue from the sale of the new book. This should not be allowed. Used books would be a start-renting books could be the answer. Students that run into this practice need to bring this information to sites as chegg.com.
