Biofuels may boost pollution
The process of turning coal into liquid (liquefaction by hydrogenation) actually produces nearly double the level of carbon dioxide emissions that conventional gasoline does, and it is considered by many environmentalists as a huge step backward for combating global warming. Other popular alternative fuels, such as corn ethanol, can also be more polluting. Whether corn ethanol is more or less polluting than gasoline will depend on how it the cord is grown, the study reports, and how the ethanol is produced.

Sugar Cane Ethanol Hits Hollywood
As the highest rated new show on Tuesday nights, this episode of CANE brings the idea of biofuels and renewable energy right into our living rooms. As a biofuel growing in popularity, ethanol is an ideal alternative to fossil fuels. It is higher in octane levels, which produce power. Ethanol also reduces tailpipe emissions of carbon monoxide, and reduces harmful particulates as well. Perhaps most importantly, ethanol is a renewable form of energy that would reduce our country’s dependence on foreign oil. But just how real is the government’s interest in sugarcane ethanol?

What Happened to Hugg.com?
It's been some time now since Hugg.com got a makeover and I just have to ask... what happened? I used to come here everyday to check the latest, coolest articles on the old site, but now I've all but forgotten that hugg exists. Why? Because the old site was SO MUCH BETTER, with the images and videos, etc... It boggles my mind why hugg would change it to the current flat, boring design with no visual impact. I'm sure I'm not alone in this opinion, it looks like traffic here has dropped significantly. I hope others will leave their comments on this post. Maybe, just maybe, can we have the old Hugg.com format back?

Green FeedBurner Networks!
Now green bloggers can make money and increase traffic with FeedBurner Networks. Recently the company began introduced the long-anticipated service, which gives users the ability to create and manage feed networks based on a topic or theme. These feeds can then be combined and displayed across the web using their numerous feed tools and widgets. Obviously we’re most excited about the new Alternative Energy Network and Sustainability Network.

Fuel Cell Powered Bicycles
A great article detailing Pearl Hydrogen's new prototype fuel cell bicycle, including several related concepts. China hopes to refit their transportation infrastructure to accommodate hydrogen powered vehicles of all types. Pearl Hydrogen is currently filling selective trial orders and hopes to bring the production costs down to facilitate mass production.

High Gas Prices are Cool!
I hope the price of gasoline and oil doubles in the next year. Actually, I hope it increases 1000%. Why? Because super-inflated gas prices may be the only thing that wakes North America up to the need for renewable energy and social change.

Hydro-Hydraulic Energy Invention
Pakistan inventor Sarfraz Ahmad Khan has been working hard to develop new hydro technologies like this hydro power invention. His latest concept features the run of river active setup of micro hydro power generation blended with basic principals of hydraulics. This concept explores the possibility of transmitting the (collective) mechanical power gained from run-of-river hydro setup by converting it into hydraulic pressure.
