New company eliminates the need for precious metal catalysts in hydrogen electrolysis and makes it 85% efficient while producing ten times more than any other. The company has also invented a technique, using nano technology, to increase the catalytic surface area of each electrode, giving them 2,000 times more surface area than its predecessors.

Until now, Solar power was used to create energy two ways: photovoltaics or solar-thermal. Thanks to Nanoptek's new experimental technology, solar energy may soon be used to generate Hydrogen, which in turn can power Hydrogen fuel cells. Scientists believe it is the first successful method of producing carbon-free Hydrogen.
