In Canada, communities can legally restrict lawn chemicals on private property. Because of industry lobbying, most states don’t allow such laws in the U.S. However, the fight over how to manage our yards is heating up across America, often pitting spouse vs. spouse or neighbor vs. neighbor. Some insist on playing it safe and avoiding toxic pesticides, while others refuse to wait through transitional periods, or pay extra for organic treatments. Does the health of the environment, as well as domestic life, hang in the balance?
