With a crazy disregard for climate change, a law that is supposed to prevent airlines from flying half-full has ended up with an airline paying people to fly.

 British Airways aircraft are to be used to gather data about the hidden impact of air travel on climate change in research that could result in much higher environmental surcharges on tickets than expected.

The Camp for Climate Change protest has started two days early, taking police by surprise. The Camp, taking place in a field near Heathrow, aims to highlight the problems of air travel, and oppose Heathrow's planned third runway. It will run all week, culminating in 24 hours of direct action on sunday.
