Okay so there are lots of companies that are making strides to become eco-friendly. Very often it is a thin line between “greenwashing” and actual improvements but that is a different story all together. So I’m doing my usual perusing around the web today and I come across a story that almost knocks me off my feet, Nike is the most eco-friendly practicing business!

Here at Ecofriend, we love to pen down about stuff made from trash and scrap.

We throw away about a third of the food we buy, which is crazy given rising food prices and a global food shortage. So what do we throw away and why, and how can we solve the problem?

We have talked about Nike before on this site about their new sustainability program and I think it is still fair to say that no ones really sure if this is for real yet. However, one thing is for sure, and that is they now have some actual product to support their claims.

Nike just recently released their Steve Nash sponsored Nike “Trash Talk” shoes. The Nike “Trash Talk” is the first performance basketball shoe made from manufacturing waste straight from the Nike plant.

Like many scientific discoveries, this one was an accident as well.While maybe not as exciting as the Chernobyl discovery, not visually appealing as The Colombia Experiment or as lofty as The God Theory,The Trashoponics is an important discovery that brings mankind one step closer toward freedom and self-reliance.
