According to this scientist it may be feasible to harness the power of tornadoes to generate electricity. Essentially these power plants would create safe vortexes which are fed through turbines. It's estimated a power plant of this type could generate 200 megawatts of electricity enough for a small city.

Instead of a normal dam, why not spin a waterwheel by the creation of a slow-moving vortex? The fishies will like it, and you will end up with a silent method for producing energy. One has already been running in Austria, and this form of utilizing the spiraling movement inherent in nature should be commended.
