I am 1 of 8 finalists for $10,000 to start a business. I'm looking to start my own vending business selling organic, local foods and milk and gluten alternatives. I'm aware that there are companies doing this but there is nothing wrong with free market right? If you like my idea PLEASE vote.

Green news from Turkey: a new book exchange campaign at schools launched by the Ministry of Education. The new exchange project will save more than 1.27 million trees and 110 million dollars every year!

Remember the Great Copy Machine Epidemic: “unidentified contagious disease striking school photocopiers, causing them to chew up trees and contributing to climate change”? On April 17, over 23,000 students in 30 schools turned off their school photocopiers and attempted to diagnose the disease.

Modtech announced that it now has the ability to offer the Iguana green classroom buildings via a district-approved cooperative purchase (”piggyback”) agreement. The Iguana is based on standards from the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) and is Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certifiable without site consideration.

Out of nearly 50 million students and teachers in the U.S., about 1 million have gone green, according to the Go Green Initiative. Is this enough? If we are serious about increasing our environmental sustainability as a nation, shouldn’t we be starting in the schools?

On Thursday 19th July, 18 lucky pupils from Downsell Primary School in Leyton took part in a special photoshoot for the 2009 edition of the Calendar of Climate Change. Children from all racial backgrounds and a range of ages were selected to represent the world community and to convey the abstract concept of ‘contraction and convergence’ in a powerful, easy-to-understand image.

Currently, there are more than 176 "green" colleges and universities, according to the U.S. Green Buildings Council, and
the number continues to grow. Among them is Portland State University. Their newest engineering building has natural
lighting, and natural ventilation. Rainwater is also captured on rooftops and treated on site to be used to flush toilets.
