Italian Nuclear Waste in Utah?
A push is being
made by EnergySolutions to import about 20,000 tons of low-level nuclear waste from Italy, to be buried in Utah on a site owned by the company. The site is known as ‘Clive’ and is part of part of Tooele County, located 80 miles west of Salt Lake City, Utah’s most highly inhabited area.

Beginning of the End For Yucca Mountain or the Beginning of Interim Nuclear Waste Management?
"Nuclear energy officials appear to be taking the lead in the quest for storage of radioactive waste, as Nevada's Yucca Mountain looks less and less like a reality".

Yucca Mountain Failure a Windfall for Nuclear Utilities
The longer it takes to build a nuclear waste repository, the more money goes into the hands of the nuclear power industry. Does this make any sense? After all, taxpayers are footing the bill.
Villagers offered £75m to accept nuclear waste
AN UNPRECEDENTED deal to compensate villagers who accept Sellafield nuclear waste with millions of pounds of taxpayers’ money has been agreed in a move that could lead up to £1 billion in payments to communities that accept more toxic waste.

Nuclear scandal: UK continues tradition of wilfully misleading public
UK Government’s consultation on the Future of Nuclear Power ended on the 50th anniversary of Britain’s worst nuclear accident. Five decades ago secrecy and cover-ups did nothing to reassure those with growing doubts about the risks of nuclear technology. Today, the government still hides those inconvenient truths.

Haven't we got enough already - why is more nuclear waste heading our way?
Despite the close attentions of coastguard ships and helicopters, not to mention an anti-terrorist task force, 30 Greenpeace activists in inflatable boats intercepted a British Nuclear Group ship this morning as it headed towards Sweden to pick up a cargo of nuclear waste bound for reprocessing at Sellafield's MAGNOX plant. This breaks a 20 year commitment from the Swedish government not to reprocess waste, and the plan also begs a serious question of our ministers - why are we importing other countries' waste into the UK anyway?

How Do You Make a Warning That Lasts 10,000 Years?
The Waste Isolation Pilot Plant presents an interesting thought experiment. They store the nation's most dangerous nuclear waste, and the US Department of Energy is legally required to dissuade anyone from coming too close to the site for the next 10,000 years. How do you do that?

Radioactive Waste on Sale! Low Price!
Today, Greenpeace has published the letter of JV “Techsnabexportâ€, the organization being responsible for international nuclear contracts in Russia, about purchase of depleted uranium hexafluoride (UF6) from URENCO Dutch company at price of USD 0.6 per kg. The representatives of the nuclear industry consider UF6 to be “valuable†raw materials for the energy industry, but such low price makes it doubtful. In the opinion of Greenpeace, this is one more confirmation that the UF6 export from Western Europe to Russia is nothing else but import of radioactive waste to Russia.
