The city of Fairbanks, Alaska which remains dark most of the winter, is spending more than $550,000 each year to keep its streets illuminated.  In a recent article in the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner the city engineer reported that the city might have to eliminate its holiday lighting displays.  HolidayLEDs.com, an online retailer specializing in energy-efficient LED holiday and decorative lighting offered to donate LED Christmas lights.
