Automobile Dependence, Break The Habit
In keeping with this week’s transportation theme, we’ve spent a lot of time discussing automobile dependence and ways to break the habit. Many people own a car or truck because of convenience, but none of us like the side effects - traffic, increased travel time, increased emissions, and smog. Actually my math may be a little rusty. Upon futher reflection, I think the denominator in the MPG calculation is ‘0′, so actually MPG would be undefined. Either way, that’s great news for fuel economy. How you ask?

Toyota Motor Corp. unveiled a "plug-in" hybrid car based on its popular Prius model saying it would test the fuel-saving vehicle on public roads—a first for the industry. But the world's biggest automaker said the car, called the Toyota Plug-in HV, was not fit for commercialization since it uses low-energy nickel-metal hydride batteries instead of lithium-ion batteries believed to be a better fit for rechargeable plug-in cars.
