LTD stirling engines are an interesting idea. They harvest the temperature difference of the environment versus a cold object, and using this they power some pumps.

In 1820, when steam engines operated everywhere, Robert Stirling, a Scottish vicar, and his brother James built a new engine. They used an outside burn, additionally hot air was sufficient for the operation of the engine.
