San Francisco’s board of supervisors has finally approved the Solar Energy Incentive Program making San Fran the country’s largest municipal solar program. The program has been a go for 10 years with an annual budget of $3 million dollars.

Theres no doubt that San Francisco, if not all of California, is ahead of the curve with regards to environmentalism. All things green are coming out of there, but there is definitely some great steps made from all over the world. So we can’t give all the credit to California, but this next one is a beauty.
Green Pencils
Kerry Davis, a 23-year-old environmental studies major at San Francisco State, is the CEO of O’BON, an environmentally friendly school supplies company that uses recycled materials to create pencils, folders and notebooks.
O’BON’s top product is their eco-logically designed pencil, made from recycled paper and a non-toxic, water-based glue used to protect the graphite and hold the pencil together. The paper is wrapped around the graphite center 36 times creating a much more durable pencil than traditional pencils made from incense-cedar wood.

Bay Area Passes Carbon Tax - First of Its Kind in the U.S.
On Wednesday the Bay Area Air Quality Management District board of directors voted 15–1 to charge companies 4.4 cents per ton of carbon emitted. Set to go into effect on July 1st for the nine Bay Area counties, the carbon tax will be the first of it’s kind in the country.
