It is estimated that orangutans could be extinct in the wild within 12 years - and your choice of bread, chips, lipstick or soap is the cause. The rainforests in Borneo and Sumatra and elsewhere are being cleared to make way for plantations growing palm oil, a cheap ubiquitous ingredient in many foods and cosmetics, and a major bio-diesel crop.
