IT managers will be under pressure to extend product life cycles as the concept of "total carbon cost of ownership" becomes more widespread, according to analyst group IDC. And many IT managers believe it is morally incumbent on them and their suppliers to get to grips with environmentally friendly computing.
Given how much energy is used and and waste is produced by business computer systems, this is good news.
