Prototypes of the Windbelt have generated 40 milliwatts in 10-mph slivers of wind, making Shawn Frayne's device 10 to 30 times as efficient as the best microturbines. For his innovation, Shawn recently received a Popular Mechanics Breakthrough Award and I had the pleasure of hearing him speak during a conference held in the Hearst Tower penthouse.
