Surprised? The plan has no recommendations about stopping the use of lead in children's products (nor would it give the Consumer Product Safety Commission the same mandatory recall authority that is recommended for the FDA), budget numbers or adequate fines.

Company Has Known For 5 Years About Lead At 40 Times Legal Limit in Toys Made In China

Chicago Tribune investigators bought a toy on ebay and tested it for lead. It had levels 40 times above legal limits. It turns out the company has known that for 5 years, but kept quiet about it. After the Tribune's digging, they issued a recall. Way to protect kids, guys!
